Experts Recommend This Type Of Mask To Protect From Corona Virus Omicron

Health experts are still urging the public to continue to wear masks as protection against corona virus the Omicron variant of the .

The Omicron variant is a respiratory virus, meaning it will mostly spread to people when they inhale particles from an infected person's cough or sneeze.

The difference with Omicron is that this variant is more contagious, meaning people are more susceptible to infection, reports NPR.

But a good mask will make a difference in how much virus other people shed or inhale.

Infectious disease doctor at the University of Chicago, Emily Landon, said it might be a good time to use the best quality masks, such as N95 or KN95.

"Especially if you are traveling or are in crowds in public places. Don't let your mask drop under your nose, it's a good idea to make sure the mask you wear fits properly," said Landon.

University of Toronto epidemiologist Colin Furness also said the government needed to further encourage the use of KN95 masks in indoor public places.

In addition to the types of masks, experts also emphasize the importance of wearing masks correctly.

"The amount of extra protection you get from the N95 masks ... If it does not fit, only slightly better than medical masks (ordinary)," said Chief of Infectious Diseases at Queen's University, Gerald Evans, quoted by Global News .
