Apple Releases 2 New iMessage Features in iOS 16, Can Edit and Cancel Messages!

Apple officially introduced iOS 16 at the WWDC 2022 event on Tuesday morning (7/6).

iOS 16 brings a number of new feature enhancements to Apple's apps including iMessage .

iMessage in iOS 16 brings 2 new features that allow users to edit messages and unsend messages.

Apple explains that users can edit messages or cancel messages within a certain time limit.

The message editing feature in iMessages gives users the opportunity to fix annoying typos.

Users are given 15 minutes to edit or cancel messages.

If it is more than that, the user cannot use the message editing and canceling features.

Here's what a user edited message looks like in iMessage.

Please note, the edit message and cancel message features are only available in iMessage iOS 16.

This feature will not be present for the SMS Messaging application on iOS 16.

Apple also notes that older versions of iOS won't be able to respond to message cancellation requests.

In that case, iMessage users on older versions of iOS will be able to see the message even if the message has been deleted by the sender.

iOS 16 will launch in the fall of this year or around September.

iOS 16 is not like iOS 15 which brings support for all iPhone devices that can run iOS 14.

Apple discontinued the latest iOS support for several types of older iPhone series with the presence of iOS 16. Not only 1 or 2, but 5 types of iPhone devices at once.

iPhone SE 2016, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are not included in the list of iPhone devices that support iOS 16.

This means that the oldest iPhone devices that support iOS 16 are the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
