Ivermectin Claimed to Produce Antivirus Effects Against Covid-19
Japanese trading and pharmaceutical company Kowa Co Ltd said that the antiparasitic drug Ivermectin showed antiviral effects against Omicron, as well as other variants of the Covid-19 virus. This was revealed from non-clinical joint research.

So far, clinical trials of the drug used to treat the parasite in humans and animals are still ongoing. Even so, the promotion of Ivermectin as a Covid-19 treatment has caused controversy.
This drug is not approved for the treatment of Covid-19 in Japan. The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Union's drug regulator, even warn of its use due to a lack of scientific evidence that the drug has a therapeutic effect.
The use of Ivermectin to treat Covid-19 is currently being investigated in a UK trial run by the University of Oxford. Researchers say the study is still ongoing. They do not wish to comment further until they have results to report. (*)
