AWS Builder's Zone Future Technologies: Fly Drones With Brain Waves
5/21/2022
Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) showcases technological future
session AWS Builder's Zone (18/5), AWS ASEAN Head of Technology Santanu Dutt demonstrated the use of cutting-edge technology in all areas of human life.
There are at least 3 AWS technological innovations on display, namely the use of IoT and Digital Twin in the field of aviation, flying drones using brain waves, and fighting misinformation with chatbots.
Utilization of IoT and Digital Twin in Aviation
Elgin Lam, Senior Prototyping Engineer, AWS, demonstrates AWS IoT in aviation.
Elgin Lam said that data and information such as aircraft speed, engine rotation speed (in RPM), and aircraft tilt angle are useful for air traffic controllers to know.
Data can be transmitted in real-time from air to ground using radiofrequency via transponder devices, as well as in a very lightweight data format.
Also used is AWS IoT Greengrass, a solution that combines IoT with the power of edge computing that is able to be present in even the smallest places, including when airplanes are high in the air.
This technology is very beneficial for aviation safety and commercial aviation regulation.
Flying a Drone with Brain Waves
Santanu explained that machine learning in a drone can be trained to recognize and respond to human brain waves.
With headset that can detect brain waves, the AWS team divided into four categories: up, down, left, and right.
When giving one of these commands, it turns out that the human brain also emits a different wave pattern. This difference in patterns is learned by drones using machine learning.
Operating a drone with just a thought may seem like fun, but imagine its future uses.
Fighting Misinformation about COVID-19 Using Chatbots
In the last demonstration session, Julia and Wei Liang, AWS , presented a chatbot that they could chat with to check information related to COVID-19.
Users can talk to chatbot using natural language, like asking a friend.
