Astra International (ASII) Car Sales Drop 18.72% in May 2022

PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) recorded car sales of 23,059 units in May 2022. This figure decreased by 18.72% compared to car sales in May 2021 year on year (yoy) which reached 28,373 units.
Based on Gaikindo's data, in terms of market share , ASII controlled 47% of car sales in May 2022. That figure fell 5% compared to the market share in 2021 yoy of 52%. With this figure, Astra's car sales throughout 2022 will be 211,596 units. That figure rose 25.27% yoy. This is because sales from January to May 2021 totaled 168,902 units.
Head of Corporate Communications Astra Boy Kelana Soebroto said the fewer working days in May 2022 had an impact on car sales in May 2022. However, the trend in car sales is expected to continue to improve. "As a result, we were able to achieve the national car sales target launched by GAIKINDO this year," said Boy in a press statement, Tuesday (14/6/2022).
Based on data from Gaikindo, the total sales of six Astra International car brands, namely Toyota+ Lexus, Daihatsu, Isuzu, UD Trucks, and Peugeot, in May 2022 had sold 23,059 units. With details, Toyota + Lexus as many as 13,412 units, Daihatsu 6,981 units, Isuzu 2,481 units, UD Trucks as many as 139 units, and Peugeot 46 units.
Meanwhile, in May 2021 ASII car sales amounted to 28,373 units. The details of Astra International's automotive sales last year were 18,253 units of Toyota+Lexus, 8,310 units of Daihatsu, 1,752 units of Isuzu and 25 units of Peugeot, and 33 units of UD Trucks.
Meanwhile, the total domestic sales of all cars in Indonesia in May 2021 were only 54,812 units. Meanwhile in May 2022 it fell to 49,454. Total sales of all domestic cars fell 9.77%.
Not only that, Astra International also leads the car sales in the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) segment. In May 2022, Astra International scored 6,442 units of LCGC car sales. This figure is up 10.93% when compared to the total sales of domestic LCGC vehicles in May 2021 which reached 5,807 units.
Meanwhile, Astra International's LCGC market share in May 2022 was 67% of all LCGC sales which reached 9,637 units. Throughout 2022, ASII's LCGC sales recorded sales of 42,111 units.
Meanwhile, the total domestic car sales throughout 2022, Gaikindo recorded 396,154 units. The total sales of domestic LCGC cars throughout 2022 reached 59,055. When viewed from the domestic total, Astra International holds the largest market share of car sales in Indonesia throughout 2022, which is 53%. This also happened to the sales of LCGC ASII cars which controlled 71%
