Support the General Insurance Industry, Property Insurance Premiums Contribute 32.5 Percent

The Insurance industry premiums insurance in the first semester of 2022 reached Rp 45.8 trillion.
This figure grew 18.7 percent on an annual basis compared to its acquisition in the same period last year of Rp 38.5 trillion.
insurance premium in total was largely supported by premiums from the property of Rp. 14.95 trillion, or grew 36.4 percent on an annual basis.
Property sector premiums contributed 32.5 percent of the total premiums recorded as a whole.
Deputy Chairperson of AAUI for Statistics and Research, Trinita Situmeang said, there are several things that support the performance of this property insurance premium.
One of them is because there is an improvement in the economic situation in Indonesia. In addition, property sales are also getting excited.
"Yes (because there is an improvement in property sales)," he said in a virtual presentation of the general insurance industry performance in the second quarter of 2022, Wednesday (21/9/2022).
Meanwhile, Head of the AAUI Statistics Department, Esti Handayani, revealed that in general the increase in the property business was supported by an increase in completed projects.
"As Covid-19 slows down and with the opening of existing businesses, the property business also increases," he said.
In addition, the growth in premiums for property was also driven by the demand for commercial properties which began to squirm in the market.
However, the increase in premiums in the property business line was also overshadowed by the increase in claims in the same sector.
Trinita explained that the property business line paid claims of Rp 3.99 trillion in the first semester of 2022.
This figure grew by 42 percent on an annual basis compared to the same period last year of Rp 2.8 trillion.
"The difference in claims paid by the property business line is Rp 1.18 trillion," he said.
As an illustration, the general insurance industry has paid claims of Rp 17.7 trillion during the first semester of 2022.
This figure grew 29.1 percent on an annual basis compared to the same period last year of Rp 13.7 trillion.
Of this amount, the property business line premiums contributed 22.4 percent to the claims paid by the general insurance industry.
